Marshall is the founding principal of Groom Financial Advisory, a Registered Investment Advisory firm with offices in Virginia Beach and Richmond, Virginia. The firm specializes in providing fee-only financial planning and investment management services to individuals, families, and corporate executives.
As a fee-only practice, Groom Financial Advisory does not accept commissions or sales incentives of any kind. Marshall believes that the fee-only model is the best way to provide his clients with independent, competent financial planning and investment management advice. In addition to ongoing asset management, Groom Financial Advisory also offers services on an hourly, as needed basis, to those who may not meet the high account minimums imposed by most financial planning firms.
Upon graduating from law school, Marshall began his career in trust and estate planning and administration at a large regional bank in New York City. He later moved to San Francisco where he transitioned into financial planning while working at both a nationally recognized wealth management firm and a Bay area investment advisory practice. In 2004, Marshall moved back to his home state of Virgina and founded Groom Financial Advisory to provide financial planning and investment advice to people from all walks of life, regardless of income or assets.
With over 17 years in financial services, Marshall is an Estate Planning Attorney, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM practitioner, a member of the Trust and Estates Section of the Virginia State Bar, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), and the Garrett Planning Network. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University and a Juris Doctor from The Dickinson School of Law at Penn State University.
Groom Financial Advisory is a boutique firm and we provide excellent personal service to clients. Our offices and meetings are informal and inviting.
Our overhead is low and as a result we are able to charge less for investment management services than many other financial planning firms.
As independent financial planners, we have a fiduciary responsibility to our clients to always put their interests first.
As a Fee-Only practice, GFA does not accept commissions or sales incentives of any kind. Thus, there are no third- party influences affecting the guidance provided to clients.
